Three times more students have signed up for this year's YDS conference than last year's. But many of them need your support to attend. Donate now to bring student activists together to ignite the democratic socialist resistance!


YDS Summer Conference 2016

Any amount helps. Here's what your donation could cover:

$3-$25 = covers transportation from housing to the conference
$25-$40 = transportation for 10 students to get from housing to the conference
$40-$75 = a bus ticket for a student in need
$75-$125 = gas money for short carpool trip
$125-$200 = rental car for a long carpool trip
$200+ = an airplane ticket for our many students across the country!

It’s 1984, British coal miners are on strike, and a group of gays and lesbians in London bring the queer community together to support the miners in their fight. Film Discussion: Union Maids

Join DSA member and labor historian Susan Hirsch in discussing Union Maids (1976). Nominated for an Academy Award, this documentary follows three Chicago labor organizers (Kate Hyndman, Stella Nowicki, and Sylvia Woods) active beginning in the 1930s. The filmmakers were members of the New American Movement (a precursor of DSA), and the late Vicki Starr (aka Stella Nowicki) was a longtime member of Chicago DSA and the Chicago Women's Liberation Union.
